@gentledawn- Most JWs have been indoctrinated against other christian religions so hard that it's damned near phobia levels against them all.
you summed that up very well. All in all; all of this new light from JWN has made my faith in GOD and the promise of that paradise even stronger, but not how most would think as I may not set another foot in a Kingdom Hall.
my first year after more than 20 years.... it seems strange.

First missed since learning the Real Truth. I felt a little empty, but kept thinking about all the lies and so forth helped me get dressed in a different attire and hop on the rode and take the family out for dinner still. Didn't see why we had to let that part of the evening go.
my parents shunned me when i was df'ed.
when i got ri'ed they started talking to me again.
when i got divorced & stopped going to meetings they shunned me again.
Forgiveness and love goes a long ways. It won't be easy, but nobody said it would be. I dont't believe GOD brought you this far to leave you now.
Be a great listener and ask a lot of questions that way you won't have to say much. Do what you can live with. The bible didn't say honor your father and mother only in good times. It says Honor your father and mother which is the first commandment with a promise. Ephesians 6:2
I don't know what you suffered, but if they seek forgiveness then lovingly forgive. If they don't seek forgiveness lovingly forgive for yourself anyway. None of the things that happened in the past will ever change, but you the hurt passes and if there is any love still there. It will show.
If they need money and you have it just give it. GOD will provide far more than you could ever give out of a good loving heart.
I do know how you may feel; first hand knowlege.
I learned that even bad parents LOVE their children.
having a rant to myself this morning and this phrase my old dad used to say came to mind:.
"self praise is no recommendation".. and i thought that self praise is exactly what jehovah's witnesses hear regularly.. we all remember hearing how loving, kind, godlike etc we were, as jehovah's witnesses.. yet all of that is self praise.
being on the outside now, gives us the freedom to consult what other sources say, and we now.
You are dead on about the self praise. I asked my children when we left, "did they feel loved at the kingdom hall?" Two replied no, but one says but they tell us we are the organization that shows the most love. I said again, but do you feel the love or just keep hearing it stated? He shook his head as he hung it down and quietly walked away. Poor baby! It was like a little light went on for him.
i am sure there has been a post about this subject, however being a recent addition to the network i don't know how to do a search.
and i'm sure new folks have joined since then.
i am really curious of how others came to know ttatt.. for me is was a real bad experience with one elder after another.

Ill treatment of other human beings.
The new light wasn't quite lit up for me.
Each time we listen for the reinstatement announcementof a disfellowshipped one and when we hear nothing, we ask ourselves... did the bible lie? Is Christ not forgiving sins today? Where does it say your sins will be forgiven in days, weeks, months, or years? Just kept saying to myself Where is the compassion, mercy, forgiveness and love that is supposed to cover a multitude that we first being Jehovah's name sake are supposed to show to all people. We don't have it as witnesses. We were taught to ony show it to the people they say we can. Not to love everybody.
Then Cedars to here and reading all the stories that seem to be united with similar misery while attending the halls.

When you wake up in the morning with a list of things to do and you don't feel bad about doing them because you need to still study or haven't been out in field service yet.
The day you come to the realization that they made it really hard to serve GOD
The day you wish you would of never gave them your phone number
you go play the lottery and don't run out of the store paranoid, hop in your car looking in the rear view mirror making sure no one saw you as you speed around the corner
one thing i have learned over the years is there is a clear, distinct purpose to everything the wts does.
everything is done to accomplish a defined purpose.. did they really print millions of new bibles just to be more accurate?

OMG! OMG! Acts 15:22,23 in the New NWT uses the word ELDERS instead of "older men" as it reads in the old nwt.
Sooooo are they setting the stage to say that all of the Elders in the congregations are now of the anointed?

i would just like to get this off my chest.. during the public talk last sunday the speaker (bro holden m'groin) said in public talk: .
" if you ask any 16yr old girl what she wants out of life, she would probably say a home, a family etc etc" (because obviously this is still 1955).. anyway that got my attention i thought " hmm....where is he going with this?"..

@LisaRose- Let he who is without sin cast the first stone, but there is no mercy among Jehovah Witnesses.
That biblical account listed at John 8:1-11 is not in there bible and no, they do not teach mercy at the Kingdom Halls. That account used to be a footnote in the old NWT but it was removed because it says a number of authorative manuscripts remove it but it fails to cite which ones.
